Three people have died after a blaze tore through a property in Hertfordshire.
The victims – two women and a man – died earlier today after the fire broke out at around midday in Hemel Hempstead. Police were called to the scene at 12.34pm to reports of injuries to several adults.
Emergency services and the fire brigade had already arrived at the property to put out the fire. Despite paramedics’ best efforts, all three were pronounced dead at the scene.
Hertfordshire Police said a major police and fire investigation is now underway to determine the circumstances around the incident.
A statement from the force said: ‘Detectives investigating an incident at an address in Stuarts Close, Hemel Hempstead, have confirmed that sadly three people – two women and a man – were pronounced dead at the scene earlier today, Sunday March 29’.
Detective Inspector Iain MacPherson said: ‘Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the three people who have sadly died’.
He added: ‘Officers and paramedics attended but sadly two women and a man were pronounced dead at the scene.
‘Detectives are investigating the circumstances and forensic officers and the fire investigation team are at the location as part of this.’
